Fixing Camera Shake with Photoshop

Photofocus (old site)

Camera shake means that during the exposure the camera moved. This movement can be very small and still create blurry images especially if shooting at a very slow shutter speed. You can reduce the risk of camera shake by simply learning how to hold your camera. In the event you find an image you really love but is blurry, Photoshop can help to a certain degree. Shake reduction is a special filter to sharpen an image. This filter should only be used as a last resort.

Use automatic camera shake reduction

  1. Open an image.
  2. Right mouse click on the image layer and select smart object.
  3. Select Filter > Sharpen > Shake Reduction. Photoshop automatically analyzes the region of the image best suited for shake reduction, determines the nature of the blur, and extrapolates the appropriate corrections to the entire image. The corrected image is displayed for your review in the…

Walking on Water

Broken Light Collective

Photo taken by contributor Ty Fitzgerald, a man who has been diagnosed with Bipolar II. Ty has a fondness for Lo-fi and Lux filters because they intensify shadows, highlights and colors. Such photos visually represent the way he sees the world, a little brighter and darker than he imagines those without bipolar disorder see the world.

About this photo: “This photo was taken in New Smyrna Beach, FL at sunset. A father and son were fishing and I managed to get a shot with just the son in it. The tide was coming in and there was water pooling all around him. When I dropped to the sand to take the shot, it looked like he was walking on water. I like this shot a lot because it has that “decisive moment” that Henri Cartier-Bresson described, where just a split second sooner or later, it would not have worked. I like to take photos of people when…

Looting is a Response, Not an Opportunity

Scott Woods Makes Lists

We need to reexamine looting.

Regarding its critics, let me start by saying that, at the level of determining solid community building options, critics of looting are right: it’s not productive. What is built from looting? Not much. Certainly nothing in the concrete world. On top of that, looting is illegal. It is against the law to break into a building and take what’s inside of it out. I don’t think anybody is confused about that, or believes that taking things out of a liquor store or burning down a Little Caesars should be confused with an urban renewal initiative. None of this, however, means that looting has no merit as an act.

Looting is a response, not an opportunity. Looting doesn’t randomly happen. Looting is what happens after something else has happened to a group of people that feel disenfranchised. There are not bands of random black people running…

In pieces

2015/01/img_0071.jpg

This piece titled “in piece” is a photographic statement made about how each individual can show emotion about themselves. The photograph conveys a grainy slightly dark emotion which displays a break not only between the colour balance of the photograph but also in what makes the image normal which combines with the facial expressions of the model.

Finding your way of working

Photographers have no limit. There maybe ways in which you prefer to work ,but you shouldn’t always follow what your good at. Giving yourself a challenge or target will help you to widen in how you analyse artistic values. This is what makes your work known not just for how your work is published and looks in it’s final production but photography focuses on the processes the photographer took and how it varies according to set theme.

The Endurance of Tacloban: Heart of the Philippines

Global Sojourns Photography

Tacloban Philippines Save the Children Yolanda -35

Violent winds swirl the dark, ominous thunderclouds overhead. The pounding waves crash onto the rocky shore and the roar of the Pacific Ocean makes its intention clear: thrash anything in its path.

With electricity in the air, I am oblivious to everything except the power coming my way as rain beats against my face, sucking me into the depths of the storm.

Tacloban Philippines Save the Children Yolanda -33

Ever since I was young, the powerful forces of storms, especially on the Oregon Coast, have held a rare type of electricity for me.  Electricity that excites my soul and eliminates any trace of fear I may have.

Chasing the idea of becoming one with the storm.  Not just to see the power unravel in front of me, but to physically feel this rare electricity.

Tacloban Philippines Save the Children Yolanda -3

The past three days I’ve experienced a different type of feeling.

Walking along the Tacloban city coastline watching the sunrise, I am beginning…

This photograph evidences a presentation of a small project which i have produced. This project displays the abstract vision of  london landscapes  in which i look at in different shapes and compositions. The overall project was consistent in angles which exposed a London scape from a different prospective of how people will usually obtain its beauty.
